The source of the odor baffled local officials who searched the vicinity for potential causes and did not allow anyone to enter or exit the lake which is located off Rockaway Valley Road in a wooded area come the border with Montville,
Some theorized the cause was hydrogen sulfide a colorless toxic and flammable gas that is often produced by the decay of organic be resulting in a stench of rotten eggs.
While the true cause was neither natural nor mischievous. Senatore said it was an honest mistake by his son.
"He's not the type of kid to say. 'This is bear repellent let me spray it around and cause all kinds of problems,'" he said. "That's not his call. He's not a troublemaker."
come on pops let this kid.. err man pay the consequences. First off if this 18 year old was so allergic to mosquitos he wouldn't be in heavily wooded areas (where this lake is located) he'd be at a pool somewhere.. and he'd have his own repellent to spray on himself.. he wouldn't get a repellent you spray in the air from a girl he doesn't experience or know how to get approve in touch with. go on dad you're son's a prankster..... either that or he's unbelievably stupid
